Tree Rose Garden Tips

Tree Rose Characteristics and 4-budded vs. 2-budded

Jackson & Perkins' tree roses are exceptional for many reasons. Not only are they healthy, vigorous, and remarkably beautiful, but they are also more robust than the industry tree roses because of our rootstock.

  1. Our tree and patio roses are all 2-year-old trees while some sell one-year trees that have grown in the field for two years.
  2. Best quality and size available in the industry.
  3. All rootstock is Dr. Huey.
  4. Our collection of tree roses are all J&P varieties with a few historical customer favorites mixed in.
  5. All tree and patio roses are #1 grade and are budded at the top 2 to 3 times to insure a well-rounded head.

Jackson & Perkins' tree roses are also 4-budded as opposed to the industry-typical 2-budded varieties. This means if you were to look down on the top of the tree, a 2-budded tree rose would have buds at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. A 4-budded tree, however, would have buds as 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock— a distinctly fuller and more well-balanced tree!
