I am surprised this company sent something out that looked like this.

My sister-in-law always sends me a gift from J&P. I am an avid gardener and I always look forward to them. Today the Christmas cactus that came, isn’t even worth $10.00. It is pathetic and partly dead. There isn’t a blooming flower on it. Only dead dried ones that no one bothered to pinch off. Such a disappointment from a company with this reputation.

Picture of Christmas cactus, I received was anything but Joyous. Spindly not worth it. Happy it's out of stock for the rest who thought they'd order it. My husband picked me up one at Whole Foods for $9.95 & it's a beauty. Last order ever from Jackson & Perkins!

Christmas Cactus Care Guide
ARRIVAL:
Open your living gift and unwrap the container, then carefully follow the instructions below to grow and enjoy a healthy plant.
BLOOM TIME/REBLOOMING:
Remove faded blooms to encourage reblooming.
PLACEMENT:
Your Christmas cactus will grow and bloom best indoors with bright filtered light and high humidity. Avoid dry, drafty locations. If placed in a dry area, mist the leaves regularly to maintain humidity. To promote bud formation prior to next Christmas, place your plant outdoors during cool, frost-free days in September and October or in a cool and completely dark room for 12 hours a day for 4 weeks.
WATER/FEEDING:
For most of the year, keep soil moist but not soggy. Immediately after blooming has finished, however, allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Generally, watering 2 to 3 times a week during summer months and 1 time per week in winter months is sufficient.
Apply a complete liquid fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks at 1/2 strength during the summer growing season.
Jackson & Perkins offers a selection of fertilizer & plant care products. We suggest using AlgoPlus fertilizer for the general health and maintenance of your plant.
TRANSPLANTING:
Christmas cactus prefers tight roots or even to be rootbound, so do not repot frequently. Repot when roots are growing out of the drainage holes or when the plant looks ragged. Repotting can be done every 3 to 4 years if desired
NOTE: if transplanted frequently, the plant will bloom much less.
IMPORTANT: Ornamental plant material should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
