A member of the Canadian Explorer Series and one of the bestselling of the red Canadian roses, Champlain, a shrub rose, grows vigorously and flowers heavily in continuous waves over a long season, from late spring to late fall. Borne in clusters, the medium-small double blooms have a slight fragrance and 25 to 30 cherry-red petals, the cooler the temperature the redder the color.
Champlain Shrub Rose is a mid-sized bush with a rounded habit of bronze-green, disease resistant foliage. Easy to grow and hardy to Zone 3, this shrub rose maintains its habit and floriferousness in all climates and is a good choice for beginners. Shown to best effect when mass planted. Use in mixed beds, hedges, and borders.
