Phlox 'Candy Stripe' Creeping Phlox is a great choice for use in the garden as a ground cover. It is a cold-hardy plant that also resists drought. It is easy to grow and can bloom twice a year. Butterflies and hummingbirds are very attracted to the flowers' nectar, but deer steer clear of these beautiful blooms.
Phlox 'Candy Stripe' may reach up to 6 inches tall and up to 20 inches wide. It requires full sun to reach its potential, gradually spreading to form large colonies where it is content. This creeping phlox can be cut back after the spring flowers disappear for a brilliant second rebloom in fall.
This perennial thrives in Zones 2 through 9, even in less-than-perfect soil conditions. Sand or poorly fertile soil are no problem for 'Candy Stripe' as long as the drainage is good.
Creeping phlox is a great choice as a beautiful flowering ground cover for large spaces as well as accents in border and foundation.
