Tulipa (Tulip)

Tulipa (Tulip) – Popular, Easy-to-Grow Flower Bulbs

Say hello to the popular kid on the block — or should we say in the garden? By far the most popular bulb planted in home gardens, tulips are known for their showy blooms and easy-to-grow nature. Available in a wide range of colors, tulips are sure to please any gardener.

The flowers are typically large and cup-shaped but now come in various shapes and sizes. The blooms appear in early to mid-spring, depending on the variety. Tulips are perfect for mass plantings, borders and cut flowers.

The tulip is a member of the Liliaceae family and was gifted to the world by the central Asian country of Kazakhstan. In the 16th century, when the Ottoman Empire conquered the region, these fetching blossoms were discovered in the mountains and stunned onlookers with their beauty. From there, tulips made their way to Turkey, where they became a coveted symbol of power and wealth. The Netherlands saw its first tulip bulbs planted in 1593 and seemingly hasn't looked back since.

While they are most commonly associated with Holland, today, tulips are grown all over the world. And here at Jackson & Perkins, we have a wide selection of tulip bulbs for sale for you to choose from.
