La Delicatesse Tulip brings a refined, romantic presence to the spring garden with silky double blooms that resemble lush peonies. The 4 inch flowers open in soft buttery yellow, mature to creamy white, and finish pure white with a luxurious merlot red base that fades into a delicate blush across each petal. Blooming in mid to late spring, this upright tulip stands 16 inches tall with fresh green foliage and sturdy stems that hold its full, painterly flowers beautifully in beds, borders, and arrangements.
Use La Delicatesse Tulip Bulbs in containers, mass plantings, specimen groupings, and spring borders where its layered color progression can be appreciated up close. Its elegant double form pairs beautifully with roses, daffodils, hyacinths, muscari, hellebores, and cool toned pansies. The strong stems also make it an excellent cut flower for bringing soft spring color indoors.
Plant bulbs in full sun and average, organically rich, well drained soil with normal, sandy, or acidic conditions. Set bulbs about 6 inches deep and 6 inches apart, or three times the height of the bulb. Hardy in Zones 3 through 8, La Delicatesse grows in an upright habit to 16 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Allow foliage to wither naturally after bloom so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
