Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit
Trillium luteum Yellow is a classic native woodland wildflower prized for its springtime charm. Growing 6 to 12 inches tall, this perennial features upright stems topped with a whorl of ovate, variegated green leaves and a solitary, three-petaled, golden or bronze-green flower with a sweet, citrusy fragrance. Berry-like fruits follow, attracting songbirds to the garden.
Hardy and long-lived (Zones 3-9), Trillium luteum forms slow-spreading clumps that thrive in shaded woodland gardens. It pairs beautifully with ferns and shrubs, offering an elegant, naturalized look. Adapted to partial shade and organically rich, well-drained soil, this perennial is low maintenance once established.
Plant yellow trillium roots in spring, spacing them 12 inches apart and 2 inches deep. As a North American native, it enhances biodiversity, requiring minimal care while supporting pollinator and wildlife habitats. Sadly, yellow trillium populations in the wild are now endangered, but you can support their survival by planting them in your garden. Our plants are nursery-propagated and always commercially grown, never harvested from the wild.
