Award-winning form, color, and garden performance

All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Winner 2001

Miniature roses that have won an AARS award are scarce, yet Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose was given this honor the year it was introduced. This lightly fragrant, exquisitely formed miniature rose sets color-drenched yellow blooms in waves all summer long on petite shrubs that are hardy through Zone 6 in the North and quite prepared to withstand the heat of summer.

These blooms, borne on stems 8 to 10 inches long, arise from classic pointed ovoid buds and spiral open with a high center and tightly packed whorls of fragrant yellow petals. Expect up to 35 petals on each bloom, which reach about 2 inches wide when fully extended.

Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose is compact enough for a container but is showy enough to make quite an impact in the garden as well. The long-stemmed blooms are suitable for cutting, and the habit of this shrub is well-branched and healthy, with glossy dark green foliage that keeps Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose looking good right through fall. Reaching about 2 feet high and wide, Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose packs a lot of color and texture into a small frame.

And this mini comes by its good looks and garden strength honestly. Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose seed parent is Yellow Jacket and one of its pollen parents is Ferris Wheel, both renowned for their exquisite color and form. Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose was bred in 1992 but not released until 2001, when Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose immediately won an AARS award.

I received this as a bonus plant with last years orders. WOW! what a great little plant! it was full, and heavily laden with flowers! I could hardly keep up with snipping off the spent flowers before three more popped up in its place! I can't wait for this one to come round again!

Miniature Rose Care Guide

ARRIVAL:

Please read and follow the instructions below carefully to keep your plant healthy. Thoroughly water your new plant upon arrival, but do not over water.

BLOOM TIME/REBLOOMING:

Remove faded blooms to encourage reblooming.

PLACEMENT:

Display your miniature roses in a well-ventilated area that gets at least 4 hours of bright, indirect light each day and, ideally, maintains a temperature around 70°F.

WATER/FEEDING:

Keep soil moist but not soggy. To water, remove the plant from its basket or outer container, water over a sink, and allow the pot to drain before returning to its container.

Apply complete liquid fertilizer at half strength every 4 weeks throughout the growing and flowering season, typically late spring to late fall.

Jackson & Perkins offers a selection of fertilizer & plant care products for roses.

GROOMING:

Remove any dead or yellow leaves.

TRANSPLANTING:

Miniature roses may be moved outside when the bloom display has finished and the chance of frost has passed. Select an area in your garden that has good drainage and receives at least 6 hours of sun each day. Or transplant your rose into a larger pot and enjoy on a sunny porch or patio.

IMPORTANT: Ornamental plant material should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
