Scabiosa Giga™ Pink Pincushion Flower offers generous 3 inch blooms in soft pink from mid spring into summer. Each flower is held on an upright stem above a compact mound of finely cut, softly fuzzy foliage. At about 20 inches tall and 15 inches wide, the plant brings airy texture and steady color to the front and middle of the garden.
This pincushion flower is graceful along borders and edging, at home in rock gardens, and charming in containers. Its upright stems lend themselves to fresh cut arrangements. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators are drawn to the flowers, while rabbits leave the plant alone. Pair Giga™ Pink with Shasta daisy, Coreopsis, Penstemon, Gaillardia, and Sedum for a refined summer combination.
Plant in full sun to part shade in loose, enriched, well drained soil near neutral pH. Water regularly through the growing season, and once established, water during dry spells. Hardy in Zones 4 to 10, it grows at a moderate pace as an herbaceous perennial. Removing spent flowers encourages continued blooming throughout the summer. Oversized blooms on a compact plant distinguish Giga™ Pink in the perennial border.
