Compact at 6 to 8 feet, it's ideal for small-space gardens and accents.
The Ruby Falls Redbud is one of the most beautiful weeping Redbuds that you will find. It is small in size, yet forms quite elegantly and will be ready to catch your attention. The blooms show up in spring before the foliage. You will get lavender colored flowers sprouting from red stems. They will stay around for a few weeks before heart shaped maroon red leaves make their entrance close to the center of the tree.
As the season progresses into summer, you will notice that the beautiful foliage will start changing colors and turn into shades of dark green, combined with violet streaks. These purple hints will stick around throughout the entire season and will even be there during fall, only tapering off when the colder winter temperatures arrive. The Ruby Falls Redbud is a product of researchers at North Carolina State University and is a relatively young plant, having been developed in 2009. It can reach between 6 and 8 feet high and 6 feet wide, making it a dwarf tree that is quite easy to take care of.Genus | Cercis |
