A 2007 Carruth introduction, superbly disease-resistant
Bright orange blooms with a rich spicy scent and softly rounded petal tips create a cheerful, refreshing look for garden or vase. This continually-blooming floribunda from master Rosarian Tom Carruth is a splendid introduction, offering disease-resistant foliage and armloads of flowers all summer on plants that just improve with each passing season.
The flowers are large, fully double, and packed with 35 petals. They begin in early summer and continue in waves all season long, refusing to quit until the cooler temperatures of autumn arrive. Ideal for cutting, they also look terrific on the shrub, adding unusual color to the Rose garden.
Like all Carruth Roses, Vavoom™ is a powerhouse of vigor and disease resistance. It stands up to heat, humidity, powdery mildew, and even blackspot, extending its hardiness range into the sultry climate of zone 10. Few Roses are happy this far south, but Vavoom™ bears little resemblance to "most roses"!
This shrub reaches 3 feet high and wide, with a rounded habit and very good branching. Once it becomes established in your garden, it begins setting more buds every year, so you will have an even more glorious display the 10th year than you did the 2nd or 3rd. This is an "investment" rose, if you willthe type that you will appreciate more as less robust cultivars come and go.
Bred from R. 'Julie Newmar' x R. 'Top Notch,' Vavoom™ has good bones that show in its vigor and flower form. The new spring foliage emerges a rich mahogany-red in spring, turning glossy green as the weather warms up. Superbly floriferous, this is a Rose no sunny garden should miss.
