Rhododendron Dandy Man® Purple

Item #37561

Disease Resistant & Cold Hardy to Zone 4

This beautiful evergreen shrub is disease resistant and very adaptable

A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Rhododendron Dandy Man® Purple is an ornate shrub that is as hardy as it is beautiful. Proven tolerant of climates as far north as upper New England, this hybrid provides Northern gardeners the opportunity to grow rhododendrons.

Featuring huge, tubular, bell-shaped blooms, Purple Dandy Man can handle cold and tolerate extreme heat while maintaining its elaborate, colorful appearance. This spring bloomer produces clusters of distinctively shaped flowers, accented by orange-speckled eyes, that contrast with the rich, green foliage, displaying an enticing combination of colors and forms, attracting bees and butterflies.

Purple Dandy Man has a mounded habit and grows up to 8 feet in height and width. In addition to producing great cut flowers, this rhododendron, which blooms on old wood, is outstanding for mass and specimen planting, containers, landscapes, and borders.

Requiring little maintenance, Purple Dandy Man should be planted in partial shade or full sun. Acidic soil must be moist with mulch provided in the summer to keep roots cool and prevent them from drying out.
