Nepeta cataria OrganicCatnip

Catnip is a reliable perennial herb valued for its fragrant foliage, pollinator appeal, and easy garden performance. This upright plant reaches approximately 24 inches tall and wide, producing soft lavender flowers above aromatic gray green foliage from spring into summer. The delicate blooms add a relaxed cottage garden charm while attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators that support a healthy, active landscape.

Known botanically as Nepeta cataria, catnip is well suited for herb gardens, pollinator plantings, cottage gardens, and mixed perennial borders. Its soft texture pairs beautifully with roses, lavender, salvia, echinacea, and ornamental grasses. Plant it along pathways, in raised beds, or in containers where its fragrant foliage and long blooming habit can be enjoyed throughout the season. It also makes an excellent addition to wildlife friendly gardens.

Catnip performs best in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a variety of average garden soils with good drainage. Once established, it is relatively drought tolerant and easy to maintain. Regular trimming after flowering can encourage fresh growth and a tidier appearance. Its combination of pollinator value, aromatic foliage, and dependable flowering makes Catnip a versatile choice for gardeners seeking both beauty and ecological benefits in the landscape.
