Description
All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Winner 1984 | Fragrance Medal at Madrid

Intrigue Floribunda Rose is a rare treasure with its mesmerizing deep plum-purple blooms and intoxicating citrus-sweet fragrance. This award-winning floribunda rose combines the elegant form of a hybrid tea with the lush, clustered blooms of a floribunda. Intrigue dazzles in flower beds, borders, containers, and cut flower arrangements with continuous, breathtaking color that lasts throughout the growing season.

Bred from the beloved White Masterpiece and Heirloom roses, Intrigue boasts a high petal count, magnificent ruffled form, and rich, jewel-toned blooms. The symmetrically shaped plum-purple, double flowers span about 3 inches in diameter and appear in clusters of three to four blooms per stem, blooming repeatedly from late spring through fall. The velvety texture and striking contrast of the dark, glossy green foliage make the flowers pop, creating a stunning visual effect. Each bloom carries an undeniable presence with a showcase of color.

Beyond its dramatic color and impeccable form, Intrigue is popular for its lively fragrance. Unlike many modern floribundas, which often sacrifice scent for visual appeal, this rose emits a bold citrus perfume with undertones of sweet fruit, creating a luxurious and romantic atmosphere in the garden. The fragrance is pronounced but not overpowering, making Intrigue Floribunda Rose perfect for planting near walkways, patios, and outdoor seating areas where its lovely, refreshing, long-lasting scent can be enjoyed up close.

This hardy, upright shrub reaches a mature height of three to four feet and spreads about the same, so it's an excellent choice for small and large gardens. Its well-branched, dense habit makes it ideal for beds, borders, and containers, where it thrives with proper care. The compact size of Intrigue Floribunda Rose means it will not overpower smaller gardens, while its abundant blooms make a strong visual statement wherever it is planted.

Gardeners appreciate Intrigue Floribunda Rose for its strong disease resistance, particularly against common rose issues like powdery mildew and black spot. For best results, Intrigue should be planted in full sun, receiving at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. It thrives, as roses do, in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and performs best with consistent moisture, though it should never sit in waterlogged conditions. Roses are heavy feeders, benefitting from regular applications of a balanced rose fertilizer throughout the growing season. Spring pruning is recommended to remove dead or crossing canes and encourage vigorous new growth. In colder climates, trimming back canes by one-third in winter helps protect the plant and ensures a strong start the following season.

A lovely rose! I bought this rose because it was really discounted and had an interesting color. It far exceeded my expectations. I have it in a partial shade location that gets bright afternoon sun which it seems to like. The blossoms are a deep magenta purple just like the picture and the smell is not strong but interesting. Glad I got this on!

Strong grower, but ...
This shopper rated the product 3 out of 5 stars

This bush is a strong grower with many flowers on the first blooming after planting the bare root version. But the flowers are not as dark as pictured and the edges of the flowers tend to fade to white with age. Also, the fragrance is not strong and fruity, instead the fragrance is moderate and perfume like, very similar in scent to Mister Lincoln, which is a scent I really don't care for. I must say I'm a little disappointed with this one.

Can't beat the flower color or scent but my plant had some problems with black-spot. Perhaps they need a dry climate to do their best.

Intrigue Rose
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this rose to add to my Rose Garden, which is only Purple, Lavender, Peach and Orange. This rose stands out of over 46 roses. Everyone asks me for the name and where I bought it. When dealing with this company you are dealing with a first class company, who take pride in their products and maintain a proper attitude towards customers. They are more than willing to take the time to answers questions and have even got the Green House Masters on the phone to answer my questions. I live in a zone 5a and only plant own root roses and have never loss one to winter, usually have to wait for winter to go away and hope for early spring, but they come back and grow 3' to 6' feet high, depending on the style of each rose. I do bed them down for winter but not with a lot of work. cover their feet and wait for spring. I do not prune in the fall. After old man winter takes his cut of branches, I wait to see where the new grow is coming from and where the dead canes start, simply prune in between those.
