Extremely cold hardy and cut flower worthy.
With large, bowl-shaped blooms, the double tulip, Tulipa Ice Age is easily mistaken for a peony. Each petal curves and swirls creating a full head. The elegant, creamy, ivory-colored flowers sit atop lovely, strong green stems at a height of 16 to 18 inches. Their compact shape makes them perfect for a container or a border, but the lovely voluptuous blooms will have them standing out in any bed or garden.
When you are planting Tulipa Ice Age, you may want to dig the hole a little deeper than required so that you can add gravel to produce the drainage that tulips need to thrive. Tulipa Ice Age is very cold hardy and need the wintery temperatures to come back in the spring. If you live in the warmer zones the bulbs will need to be dug up and refrigerated to properly induce flowering.
Plant Tulipa Ice Age bulbs 8 inches deep in the fall, watering after to wake them up.
