Heuchera

Plant a show-stopping shade plant!

Heucheras are a favorite for shade gardens. These woodland plants have standout foliage in colors ranging from lime green to pinks and reds to deep purple. They have variegated, heart-shaped or rounded foliage, with some varieties having ruffled edges. They stand out as a groundcover and look lovely in borders and even containers. Though Heuchera originated as a shade plant, there are varieties that can tolerate full sun as well. This fabulous foliage plant isn’t finished. In late spring, it sends up multiple spikes covered with small bell-shaped flowers. The common name of Heuchera Coral Bells is because of these lovely flowers. These Coral Bells are loved by hummingbirds as well, so expect to see them drawn to your garden.

Heucheras are very garden-tough, ready to put up with heat, humidity, drought and poor soil. Deer and other nibbling animals tend to leave it alone, and pests and diseases are few. Once planted, they are easily maintained and require very little care. Heucheras are very cold-tolerant and hardy in northern zones. Heucheras make the perfect accent or fillers for your shady or sunny garden spots!
