Horrible gift presentation
This shopper rated the product 1 out of 5 stars

I received this 3 pack from my sister as a Christmas gift. The burlap bag had a stain on it. Sad. It was just tossed in a box with no care and no paperwork. I had no idea what the bulbs were. And no planting instructions were included. Wow. Shows a complete lack of customer care, as well as a lack of pride in your product.

3 bulbs in a bag

I love amaryllis and always buy them at Christmas and then try to keep ... they live, but don't always rebloom. These are planted. Maybe they will bloom in time for Valentine's Day!

Received mine and can’t wait to watch them grow. Excited to watch them bloom their velvety red petals. Thanks for keeping all the instructions online. I always lose them in the excitement of opening presents

Amaryllis grow your own
This shopper rated the product 1 out of 5 stars

I ordered two ‘Grow your own Amaryllis’ in burlap gift sack for Christmas gifts to two family members. The bulbs arrived with no identification of what type bulbs they are and no growing instructions. Disappointing.

I ordered these for myself and family members. I would not encourage you to buy these unless you know how to care for them. Bulbs in a burlap bag with no instructions, nothing. This is not good.

Amaryllis Care Guide

ARRIVAL:

Each amaryllis bulb arrives pre-planted in a grower's pot nestled in its decorative container and in the first stages of growth. Remove packing material on top of the container and add water until soil is moist.

BLOOM TIME:

Blooms will appear 6 to 12 weeks after arrival, depending on variety. As each bloom fades, simply remove. Some amaryllis send up the flower stalk first, followed by the leaves; others develop leaves first, followed by the flower stalk.

Note: If your amaryllis requires extra support to hold up its huge blooms, simply insert one of our attractive decorative amaryllis stakes into the soil next to the bulb.

REBLOOMING:

Your amaryllis can bloom every Christmas for years to come by following these simple steps:

  • After blooming has finished, cut the flower stalk off 1 to 2 inches above the bulb. The leaves will continue to grow and nourish the bulb. Continue watering throughout the summer months. Fertilize as you see fit with a liquid fertilizer.
  • In mid to late August, begin to withhold water to induce dormancy. The foliage will die as the pot dries out. Remove old leaves. Store bulb in a dry, dark location with temperatures between 45° to 55°F. Keep bulb dormant for a minimum of 8 weeks or longer if possible.
  • 6 to 8 weeks before blooms are desired, return to room temperature, repot the bulb in fresh soil, move it into the light, and resume watering, lightly until new shoots appear, then keep soil moist.
Winter Radiance Harlequin Amaryllis

PLACEMENT:

Place your amaryllis in direct sunlight with room temperatures ranging between 65° to 75°F. Blooms will last longer if moved to a cool spot between 55° to 65°F at night. Turn regularly to keep stems from leaning toward the light source.

WATER/FEEDING:

Keep the soil moist but not soggy.

No fertilization is necessary for this growing season, as the bulb has all the nutrients needed. For future fertilization, Jackson & Perkins offers a selection of fertilizer & plant care products. We suggest using AlgoPlus Fertilizer for the general health and maintenance of your plant.

TRANSPLANTING:

In Zones 8 to 11, your amaryllis can be transplanted outdoors in spring into organic, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Exception would be specialty exotic amaryllis, such as Papillio, which are recommended to be kept as houseplants indoors everywhere.

IMPORTANT: Ornamental plant material should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
