Description
Ideal for pretty pots, indoors or outdoors

Freesia Double Blooming Mix varieties typically set their beautiful flowers in summer. In mild climates (Zones 9-10), plant freesia bulbs in the fall for best results. In regions with colder winters, bulbs should be planted in early spring after the threat of frost has passed, and then lifted to overwinter. These double freesia varieties are known for their ornate appearance, with abundant clusters of up to 8 trumpet-shaped flowers filled with layers of petals, giving them a very full and vibrant look. The bold-colored blooms face upward on leafless stems that rise 12 to 24 inches tall, making them a favorite among gardeners and pollinators alike. Their strong, sweet scent attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, adding life and fragrance to your garden. Freesias are also among the world's most popular cut flowers, prized for their delicate, long-lasting blooms that are perfect for bouquets and mixed floral arrangements.

Freesia hybrids, commonly referred to simply as freesia, have an upright habit and thrive when grouped or planted in sweeping drifts through garden flower beds and borders. They are a must-have for any cutting garden, and planting bulbs every two weeks in the spring can extend their blooming season. Freesias are also perfect for growing in pretty pots, whether indoors or outdoors, adding a touch of elegance to any space.

To plant Freesia Double Blooming Mix bulbs, space them 2 inches apart and 2 inches deep. For a more dramatic display, plant about 16 bulbs per square foot. Freesias are easy to grow when placed in a sunny to partially shady spot with medium moist, well-draining soil. Once growth begins, feed the bulbs with Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food to encourage healthy flowering. In USDA Zones cooler than 9, the corms will not survive the winter and should be dug up if you wish to overwinter them.
