A Southern Living® variety, Delosperma Wheels of Wonder™ Violet Wonder Iceplant is a perennial ground cover offering 3 seasons of interest, blooming from early summer to early winter. Floriferous and long blooming, the plant sets masses of daisy-like, bright violet flowers with a white center and a halo of yellow anthers. The flowers thoroughly blanket the bush, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.
Typical of Delosperma cooperi, commonly called iceplant, Violet Wonder is an herbaceous, succulent, mat-forming plant that spreads vigorously. It has a compact, horizontal habit of small, fleshy, blue-green leaves. Its heat- and sun-loving nature makes Violet Wonder Iceplant a perfect candidate for xeriscapes and waterwise landscapes. But this iceplant works perfectly well in mixed beds and borders in areas that are sunny and dry.
An easy-grow, easy-care plant with virtually zero maintenance required, iceplant grows best in a sunny location with sandy, well-draining soil. It tolerates dry, rocky soils, but heavy unamended clay soils and wet areas with poor drainage should be avoided. The plant is heat and drought tolerant and deer resistant.
