Citrus 'Fukushu' Kumquat Tree

Tree Sleeve
Item #29502

Strikingly beautiful, this thornless tree sets fragrant flowers followed by large fruits

Citrus 'Fukushu' Kumquat Tree is a semi-dwarf variety that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is fruitful. This strikingly beautiful, thornless tree is adorned with lush, rounded dark green leaves and boasts clusters of fragrant flowers throughout its growing season. Following the blooms, the tree yields large, succulent kumquats with a tangy pulp and a thin, sweet skin, making them ideal for both fresh consumption and candied fruit slices.

A Fortunella obovate cultivar, also called Changshou kumquat, the 'Fukushu' Kumquat is grafted onto semi-dwarf rootstock, resulting in a compact and spreading form. This tree serves as an excellent focal point in any garden and can be trained as an espalier or grown in a container. In an open garden, the 'Fukushu' Kumquat can grow up to 10 to 15 feet tall, but can be pruned to maintain a specific size and shape. When grown in a container, the tree remains smaller but continues to flower and produce full-sized fruits.

The Citrus 'Fukushu' Kumquat Tree thrives in full sun, requiring at least 8 hours daily, and prefers deep, evenly moist, well-draining soil. It can adapt to a wide range of soil types, except for heavy, wet soils. The tree should be shielded from strong winds and freezing temperatures. Container plants should be moved indoors at the first sign of frost and placed in a location with ample bright sunshine. The tree is self-fertile, producing fruit without the need for pollen from other varieties.

Our citrus trees are shipped at the optimal planting time based on your specific growing zone. Please note that citrus trees are not shipped in December or January. The height of the plant when shipped is between 18-36".
