Description
Golden spires of elegance that brighten gardens and sustain pollinators

Standing tall and majestic, Alcea Yellow is a radiant hollyhock that reaches a mature height of 4 to 8 feet, blooming beautifully from mid to late summer. Its towering spires are adorned with 4- to 5-inch double blooms, featuring layers of ruffled petals in sunny shades of yellow. These cheerful flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, making them an essential addition to pollinator-friendly gardens. The blooms also make fabulous cut flowers, adding a touch of brightness to floral arrangements.

An Alcea rosea variety, commonly known as hollyhock, Yellow is a hardy, herbaceous perennial for Zones 2-8. While technically biennial, it self-seeds prolifically, returning year after year to grace the garden with its old-world charm. Perfect for cottage and butterfly gardens, the lofty spires add architectural interest, whether used as a backdrop, a garden divider, or planted against walls and fences for dramatic effect.

Yellow hollyhock thrives in sunny spots with average, medium moist, well-draining soil but adapts well to light shade and a variety of soil types. Adding a layer of mulch helps keep the roots cool and moist, ensuring the plant's health and vigor. Naturally deer resistant, Yellow hollyhock is as durable as it is beautiful.

To plant, soak hollyhock roots for about an hour before placing them in the ground. Position the taproot downward, planting 2 to 3 inches deep and spacing them 24 to 36 inches apart.
