Plant Zantedeschia Callafornia® Red Calla Lily in spring, and from mid to late summer, it blooms in huge, exotic, saffron gold flowers on tall, elegant stalks sheathed in lush, long, medium green leaves speckled with white spots. The flowers are flushed with orange and coppery red color that gradually spreads across the petals. Highly popular in the floral industry, the chalice-like flowers make superb cuts for bouquets and arrangements.
A Zantedeschia hybrid, commonly called calla lily, and member of the Callafornia Calla® Series, Callafornia Red is a tender, rhizomatous perennial, often grown as an annual. It has an upright habit, and although it makes a gorgeous specimen plant, it is shown to best effect when massed or grouped. Calla lily grows equally well in garden or container, outdoors or indoors.
Easy to grow and virtually trouble-free, calla lily grows best in sunny to partly sunny locations with organically rich, consistently moist, well-draining soil, with best flowering in full sun. Callafornia Red is heat tolerant, but in hot summer climates, it may benefit from some filtered afternoon shade. Calla lily also benefits from regular watering and feeding with a liquid fertilizer high in potash.
