This charming gift plant blooms for months

White calla lilies add classic beauty to your home with elegant chalice-shaped flowers borne on strong stalks sheathed in broad, arrow-shaped leaves with a glossy sheen and pretty white speckles. Calla lilies are extremely popular cut flowers, but they only last a short time in a vase. Grown as a houseplant and given proper growing conditions, calla lily blooms can be enjoyed for months in your home. Although calla lilies go dormant for a few months each fall, the plants return each spring.

Calla lily is easy to grow, low maintenance, and virtually trouble free, so it makes a great gift that fits seamlessly into today's busy lifestyles. Planted in the gold swirl container, this white calla lily is suitable for any gift-worthy occasion.

I am disappointed in the plant that arrived last week. The leaves were turning yellow when the box arrived even though I opened it immediately and checked to make sure it was not dry or overly wet.

Calla Lily Care Guide

ARRIVAL:

Open your gift and unwrap the container, then carefully follow the instructions below to grow and enjoy a healthy plant.

BLOOM TIME/REBLOOMING:

Calla lilies can bloom for months when given proper care. Snip off spent flowers to encourage reblooming. If your plant does not rebloom, try giving it more light. To increase blooming in spring and summer, allow your calla lily to go dormant for 6 weeks in winter: move to a darker, colder area and reduce water.

PLACEMENT:

Display calla lily in warm, humid environment where it will receive bright indirect light. Too much light can burn the leaves; too little light may affect bloom quantity. Temperatures between 60° and 80°F are ideal. Do not expose calla lily to cold drafts or frost. In dry environments, place near other leafy plants or next to an open container of water to create humidity.

WATER/FEEDING:

Water only when the soil is dry, to a minimum of 1 inch below the surface, with filtered/unchlorinated water or water that has been allowed to sit for 24 hours. Be careful not to over water, but do not allow the soil to dry out completely.

Apply an all-purpose fertilizer for indoor plants once a month during the growing season, typically March through September. Do not fertilize in winter months.

Jackson & Perkins offers a selection of fertilizer & plant care products. We suggest using AlgoPlus fertilizer for the general health and maintenance of your plant.

GROOMING:

Wipe leaves with a damp rag to remove dust.

TRANSPLANTING:

When your plant has outgrown its current pot, especially if roots are growing out of the drainage holes, transplant in early spring, if possible. With each repotting, increase the pot diameter 1 to 2 inches in size and use fresh, high-quality potting soil. Make sure your new pot has ample drainage holes so the soil can drain properly.

IMPORTANT: Ornamental plant material should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
