Papaver 'Ruffled Princess of Orange' Poppy

'Ruffled Princess of Orange' Poppy is a captivating addition to the garden, growing 18 to 24 inches tall and producing a stunning display of large, fringed blooms in spring in southern regions and in summer in northern regions. The satiny, ruffled petals in deep orange surround a striking dark seed capsule, creating a bold contrast against the gray-green, thistle-like foliage. Borne singly on bristly stems, the airy flowers attract bees and butterflies while adding vibrant color to beds and borders. These poppies also make cheerful cut flowers; harvest blooms as buds begin to open and sear the ends of freshly cut stems to extend vase life.

A Papaver orientale cultivar, commonly known as Oriental poppy, 'Ruffled Princess of Orange' is a hardy herbaceous perennial (Zones 2-9) with a compact, columnar growth habit.
