Hosta White Feather Plantain Lily

Hosta White Feather is a distinctive shade-loving perennial prized for its striking foliage and compact size, growing to just 20 inches tall and 12 inches wide. In spring, its wavy, lance-shaped leaves emerge in a stunning creamy white that gradually deepens to green with streaks of white as the season progresses. During early to late summer, slender scapes rise above the foliage, bearing pale lavender, tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds and add charm to mixed floral arrangements.

A hybrid Hosta variety, commonly called plantain lily, White Feather has a symmetrical, mounding habit and thrives in Zones 3-9. This adaptable plant establishes quickly and returns each year larger and more robust, making it an excellent choice for massing as ground cover or grouping into graceful drifts throughout the garden. Its versatility extends to borders, foundation plantings, containers, and woodland settings, where it pairs beautifully with spring bulbs and other shade perennials.

Easy to grow and low maintenance, White Feather thrives in dappled to full shade with rich, moist, and well-drained soil. It prefers a neutral to slightly acidic pH and requires consistent moisture to prevent drying out. Though tolerant of varying conditions, it will not perform well in full sun. An annual application of slow-release fertilizer ensures its vibrant appearance and healthy growth.
