Helleborus Frostkiss® Vibey Velvet™

Vibey Velvet™, part of the Frostkiss® series, is an evergreen perennial that adds texture and rich color to the garden throughout the year. Reaching 12 to 18 inches in height and spread, Vibey Velvet blooms heavily in winter, producing a saturated display of dark red, burgundy-flecked flowers. These slightly smaller flowers are held singly on sturdy, deep-red stems that rise above a dense rosette of leathery, variegated foliage. Long-lasting and nectar-rich, Vibey Velvet's blooms add beauty to the winter landscape and serve as a vital food source for early-emerging bees. This Helleborus hybrid, commonly referred to as hellebore or Lenten rose, has a moderate to vigorous growth rate and an upright, mounding form. Vibey Velvet is versatile in the landscape, suitable as a striking specimen in a container or garden bed, and even more impactful when massed in beds or borders. Slowly spreading through rhizomatous roots, Vibey Velvet serves as a reliable ground cover without becoming invasive, making it ideal for planting under high-branched deciduous trees or large shrubs where it is naturally shielded from winter winds.

Easy to grow and requiring minimal maintenance, Vibey Velvet hellebore thrives in dappled shade, though it will tolerate full sun in mild summer climates if its roots are kept cool.
