Exuberant Koi Blend combines two stunning large-flowering gladiolus varieties: Extravert and Koi. These complementary beauties feature 24- to 48-inch-tall flowering spikes that rise above a lush fan of sword-like leaves. Their orchid-like flowers, adorned with elegantly ruffled petals, add dramatic color and texture to the summer garden and beckon to butterflies and hummingbirds. Exuberant Koi Blend includes Gladiolus spp. varieties, commonly called gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, that are perennial in Zones 7-10. For the most striking results, plant bulbs in groups or masses within garden beds, borders, or containers. These gladiolus also thrive in rock gardens and cutting gardens, adding vibrant charm wherever they're grown. Taller stems may require staking in windy locations to keep the blooms upright.

These gladiolus are easy to grow, thriving in sunny to partially shaded spots with rich, well-draining soil. If your soil is sandy or clay-heavy, amend it with organic materials like bark or peat moss to improve structure and moisture retention. Fertilize lightly after planting and again in summer. Water thoroughly at planting and consistently throughout the growing season, ensuring roots stay hydrated but not waterlogged. Add mulch to help retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.

Plant Koi Blend gladiolus bulbs in spring after the last frost, spacing them 4 to 6 inches apart and planting them 4 to 6 inches deep. For a prolonged bloom season, stagger plantings every two weeks throughout the spring. After blooming, allow the foliage to grow until it browns or frost is near.
