Fame! Grandiflora Rose

THE pink rose, this 1998 All-American Rose Selections winner is sure to become a popular addition to your garden. The huge, loose blooms open in a slow spiral, each petal superbly painted in a deep pink color from base to tip.

A result of a cross between two of Jackson and Perkins' best: Tournament of Roses and Zorina, Fame! is an incredibly showy grandiflora rose that brings a whole new meaning to the word "pink" with its neon-bright color. From 1½-inch pink buds, the flowers slowly spiral to form high-centered blooms a full 4 to 5 inches wide. The fragrance is so mild as to be nearly imperceptible, yet the size and color are such that this rose is still a superstar in any cut flower arrangement. The very thick, substantial petals also keep very well, adding significantly to the flower's vase time.

Few roses can compete with the intense vigor of Fame!. Expect it to swiftly reach its mature size of about 4½ feet high and wide. The beautiful habit is upright and spreading, and the plant is clothed with glossy green foliage that provide an excellent contrast to the blooms, the little green leaflets being dwarfed by the magnitude of the deep pink blossoms.

Boasting excellent disease resistance, Fame! will thrive in any well-drained soil with full sun. Give it a light pruning in spring. Provide freeze protection for the buds in early spring and for the whole plant in winter if grown in a container. Suitable for a large planter, Fame! is also a great accent for the perennial border.
