Eucomis bicolor, also known as the pineapple lily, brings a touch of the tropics to your garden with its distinct and captivating appearance. Growing to 8 to 12 inches tall, this summer-blooming beauty features maroon-speckled stems topped with dense spikes of pale-green, star-shaped flowers edged in maroon. For planting, wait until all danger of frost has passed and the soil is warm. Plant bulbs 1 inch deep and space them 18 inches apart.
