Description
Award-Winning Color and Rich Fragrance

All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Winner 1976

Bred by Jackson & Perkins, introduced in the bicentennial year, and immediately named an All-America Rose Selection, America Climbing Rose gloriously exhibits all the best traits of contemporary roses. The fully double blooms are packed with 30 or more petals of deep pink suffused with salmon and coral on the upper surface, lighter tones on the reverse. Redolent of cloves, the fragrant flowers fill the garden with a pleasing spice that lingers long after twilight. Strong, quick-growing canes are clothed in dark green foliage—disease-resistant and very attractive. America Climbing Rose is a garden star!

America Climbing Rose begins its show with masses of pointed buds, which open to layers of sunset-toned petals. Expect the flowers to reach 4 to 5 inches wide, borne primarily one per stem, but occasionally in small clusters. Banked by thick, leathery foliage that looks good from spring until hard frost in fall, the blooms appear in waves all season long, perfuming the garden around them, adding stunning color to any sunny setting, whether climbing an arch or arbor, trailing along a fence, covering a wall, or transforming a pergola or gazebo into a fragrant, shady retreat.

Expect this vigorous rose, a very fast-growing climber, to reach 10 to 12 feet high and 6 to 8 feet wide at maturity. Bred by Bill Warriner from Fragrant Cloud x Tradition, America Climbing Rose comes by its disease-resistant nature and robust growth honestly. Its pedigree is impeccable, and it surpasses its parents in beauty. A favorite since its 1976 introduction, America Climbing Rose is the climber you want for that place of honor in your garden to serve as a spectacular focal point of color and scent, offering height, structure, and an abundance of beautiful blooms.

fall roses
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I ordered 2 of the America climbing roses. I received them 9/30/19 for fall planting and got them in the ground early October. They arrived alll leafed out looking healthy just VERY small. They measure approximately 6" tall by 6-8" wide. It's getting below freezing now here in Nevada @ night but still very warm 70-80's in the daytime. All the leaves have fallen off . Hoping all my hungry rabbits will not devour them before they leaf out again in the spring. I will use "Plantskyd" a repellant, and will cover with mulch and burlap for winter. Hoping they make it. Will review next spring and let you know how they're doing.
