Description

The ultimate easy-care houseplant

Pothos is the ultimate in beautiful, easy-care houseplants. Its leaves can range anywhere from a solid medium green to variegated with cream stripes, depending on the light conditions. It has an incredible vining habit and will slowly crawl up a wall or elegantly tumble from a hanging basket. The plant does best in bright indirect light, requires watering only when the soil gets dry, and tolerates a lack of air circulation in homes, offices, and even bathrooms.

The benefits of pothos don't stop at beauty and low maintenance. Houseplants increase the quality of our lives and are important for our well being. Plants in the home help us breathe easier by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, increase humidity which reduces dry skin, colds, sore throats, and coughs, as well as removes toxins to purify the air. There are even studies showing that houseplants decrease stress and anxiety, increase productivity, reduce sickness, boost creativity, and increase focus. You can't go wrong bringing a plant into your home.

You can place a pothos virtually anywhere and it will thrive. Bring the beauty of nature inside today with this incredible houseplant.

Pothos Care Guide

ARRIVAL:

Open your gift and unwrap the container, then carefully follow the instructions below to grow and enjoy a healthy plant.

BLOOM TIME/REBLOOMING:

This plant is an ivy, which can trellis a form but is nonflowering

PLACEMENT:

Display your pothos plant indoors in an area with bright indirect light. If variegated/colored leaves begin to turn solid green, move the plant to a location where it will receive more bright indirect light, which will bring the variegation back to the leaves. Keep away from drafts or sources of direct heat. Temperatures between 65° to 75˚F are ideal.

WATER/FEEDING:

Water thoroughly, but let plant drain out so there is no standing water in the bottom of the container. Pothos do not like soggy conditions and prefer to dry out between waterings. If the plant starts to collapse or develops black spots on the leaves, it is receiving too much water/moisture.

Apply a complete liquid fertilizer monthly or bi-monthly during the growing season, typically spring and summer.

Jackson & Perkins offers a selection of fertilizer & plant care products. We suggest using AlgoPlus fertilizer for the general health and maintenance of your plant.

GROOMING:

Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.

TRANSPLANTING:

When your plant has outgrown its current pot, especially if roots are growing out of the drainage holes, transplant in early spring, if possible. With each repotting, increase the pot diameter 1 to 2 inches in size and use fresh, high-quality potting soil. Make sure your new pot has ample drainage holes so the soil can drain properly.

IMPORTANT: Ornamental plant material should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.
