Jackson & Perkins today announced the exclusive debut of a commemorative hybrid tea rose in honor of Former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson.

The bright, striking reddish-orange rose with a light spicy fragrance was personally selected by Mrs. Johnson. Ten percent of the net proceeds from the sale of each rose bush will be donated to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, TX to help fulfill their mission to increase the sustainable use and conservation of native wildflowers, plants, and landscapes.

Mrs. Johnson, the widow of President Lyndon B. Johnson, will turn 94 in December and is currently the oldest living First Lady.

Jackson & Perkins company worked closely with Mrs. Johnson to designate this beautiful rose, the Lady Bird Rose. The rose is launched as part of the First Ladies Rose Series and it joins roses named for First Ladies Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and most recently, the Laura Bush Rose.

The rose will be available exclusively in the Jackson & Perkins catalog in October 2006 or at The rose is sold for $19.95 for a single rose or $54.95 for three, plus delivery and handling charge.
