Hosta 'Maui Buttercups' is an herbaceous perennial offering summer interest. One of the very best small, yellow hostas available, grown for its ornamental foliage, 'Maui Buttercups' has broad and rounded, 5-inch, bright gold leaves that are deeply cupped and corrugated. Borne on 18-inch scapes, lily-like lavender to white flowers bloom in midsummer, attracting hummingbirds.
Exceedingly popular and highly versatile, Hosta 'Maui Buttercups' has a compact, mounded habit and a medium growth rate. Tolerant of air pollution, it grows well in containers in city environments. But it's shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds and borders, and it makes nice edging.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, Hosta 'Maui Buttercups' prefers dappled to full shade and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Plants should not be allowed to dry out. Slug resistant.
