Echinacea SunSeekers® Salmon Coneflower is a free-flowering, long-blooming, showy perennial that blooms early summer to early fall. Having non-fading colors, the large, semidouble flowers appear in a lovely shade of salmon-pink with some soft yellow petals in the center. The blooms turn pale pink as they mature, and a large, dark crimson cone forms, enhancing their beauty. Borne on short, stocky stems, the flowers are held upright, making excellent cut flowers. In the garden, the long-lasting, nectar-rich flowers sustain butterflies and bees; and the dried end-of-season seed heads are a food source for songbirds and add garden interest as well, especially attractive when dusted in freshly fallen snow.
An Echinacea hybrid, commonly called echinacea or coneflower, this herbaceous plant has a medium growth rate and an upright, clumping habit of lance-like rich green leaves. Consider planting in large groups in beds, borders, and patio pots or singly as a specimen or accent.
An easy-grow, easy-care plant, echinacea grows best in sunny locations with average to fertile, well-draining soil. It tolerates poor soils, but good drainage is essential. The plant is deer resistant and drought tolerant, once established. Cold hardy, Echinacea SunSeekers Salmon overwinters well. Deadheading is not required but will promote even more blooms.
