Salvia New Dimension Blue
A Rare Source of Deep Blue Blooms for the Sunny Border!
A Dutch strain, New Dimension Blue really does expand the possibilities for Salvia in your garden. This little plant is just 8 to 10 inches high, but spreads up to 18 inches wide, making it an excellent choice for groundcover in the sunny border, along the driveway, in meadow gardens, and along banks and slopes. Deer and rabbits leave it alone, and once established it is quite tolerant of drought and poor soil. Imagine a sea of undulating blue blooms in the summer breeze!
New Dimension Blue not only keeps nibbling pests away, it encourages the "good visitors" from butterflies and bees to hummingbirds. An excellent underplanting for Roses and other leggy perennials and shrubs, it creates a rich, dark carpet of color dotted with the bright wings of butterflies and other winged guests!
Cut all of these slender, flower-packed spikes you wish for indoor arrangements, and do deadhead the spent blooms promptly. After the first flush of bloom, you may want to cut back the entire planting. This will rejuvenate the foliage and assure you of a heavier fall rebloom.
Enjoy New Dimension Blue in the garden, on the patio, and in the vase. It's a terrific all-purpose sun lover you will continually find new uses for! Zones 5-8.
