Salvia 'Madeline' PP#20,456
A magnet for butterflies and hummingbirds!
Renowned Dutch plantsmen, Piet Oudolf, found this beauty in The Netherlands, and are we ever thankful! You can?t help but fall in love with its violet-blue hooded blooms with a white lower lip, edged in a matching shade of violet. Butterflies and hummingbirds find it just as irresistible, but deer and rabbits tend to ignore it. The flowers, which grow in whorls around the branched stems, hold up well in wind and rain, and if the plants are cut back after their first flush, they may rebloom!
