Beautiful Hydrangea is Dwarf Version of Snow Queen

Pee Wee provides the same four-season appeal and lavish flower production as Snow Queen in less than half the space.
Hydrangea quercifolia Pee Wee -- The bold foliage of this dwarf four-season shrub provides drama in spring and summer before turning a magnificent chocolate-burgundy in fall. The huge, elongated panicles of white flowers, which mature to pale pink, put on a summer show, the dried flowerheads and the peeling, cinnamon-colored bark enliven your winter landscape.

The species can grow 7 feet high and 12 feet wide so we are pleased indeed with this dwarf selection which reaches only 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide! The flowers are slightly smaller but just as lavishly borne as in the larger species.

Resistant to pests and diseases, this care-free shrub thrives in any location from full sun to deep shade in moist, rich, well-drained soil. Zones 5-9.

This plant was ordered very early in the year, and planted during the end of Feb in Zone 8b. It's growing very fast under a mass of oak trees in rich, moist, cool, and mulched soil without fertilizer. It seems very happy in a spot that's difficult to grow any flowering plant, in deep shade.
