Shirazz Magnolia Tree
Giant Plum Blooms Widen with Maturity!
Such a splendid new Magnolia, Shirazz™ is guaranteed to delight, with enormous blooms in rich colors, a very high bud count, and late bloomtime!
Impressively large, tulip-shaped blooms of reddish burgundy sit atop the bare branches of this conical tree before the new foliage appears. As they open -- becoming wider and saucer-shaped as they mature -- the petals reveal gleaming white interiors. The overall effect is a two-tone play of color that is as beautiful as it is unusual from a Magnolia!
Shirazz™ is very free-flowering, even from a young age. This New Zealand introduction also blooms late enough to miss most frosts. Bred from the popular M. 'Vulcan' and M. denudata, it reaches 15 to 18 feet high and about 12 feet wide over time. A terrific specimen, perimeter planting, or accent for the sunny garden. Zones 6-9.
