The Rose Report

Harvest Report
We’re delighted with the quality and performance of this year’s Jackson & Perkins® roses. This crop promises to be our best in years! Ideal fall weather encouraged natural leaf drop and enhanced energy storage in the root system — which ensures that roses have a strong start after planting and will bloom beautifully even their very first season.

Also, the measures we took to maximize the quality of our New Generation® Roses have paid off. They’re better than ever! Earlier planting, later harvest, wider spacing in the field and a tighter grading standard has produced terrific looking roses with fantastic garden performance. Feedback from our early, warm weather customers has been very positive.

Award Winning Roses
Two of our roses have been honored with prestigious American Rose Society awards. ARS awards are highly prized because gardeners from across the country pick the winners based on proven garden performance.

Gemini™ Hybrid Tea Rose has won the 2005 ARS Members’ Choice Award. With an abundance of perfectly formed coral-pink and cream-toned blooms, it's no surprise this enchanting plant is an award-winner. Known for its exhibition quality blooms and remarkable vigor, Gemini supplies enough roses to fill bouquets and gardens throughout the season.

Late Winter to Early Spring

If you can’t plant them now, store the plants in a cool dark place — such as a root cellar — where temperatures stay above freezing.Transplant roses before growth begins in spring, giving them plenty of time to establish before winter.
Warm Zones
Plan and build new beds. Start controlling weeds early. For your Climbing Roses, tie any loose canes to structures before the foliage fills in. Find great gardening tips specific to your location in Jackson & Perkins® Beautiful Roses Made Easy Book, our handy guide to roses.

What Gardeners Are Saying...
“I just went through my second hurricane. I am amazed to tell you how my roses look... no damages at all. The leaves and the buds all came through fine. I even had the Veterans' Honor® rose bloom during three days of very hard wind and rain... and my roses still look lovely. Thank you.”
