Up to 13 flowers on every stem!

This amoena type is heavily ruffled and beautifully picoteed!

Beautifully patterned in plum-purple and pure white, 'Royal Snowcap' is a striking presence in garden or vase. The standards are white, the falls a plummy shade of purple edged in snowy white, and the petal edges nicely ruffled. If there is a more regal Iris, we have yet to see it!

Boasting 10 to 13 buds on every flowering stem, 'Royal Snowcap' is a generous bloomer in mid- to late season. It reaches about 40 inches high, a good choice for the middle to rear of the Iris garden, its velvety texture and rich colors standing out even in a crowded setting.

'Royal Snowcap' is an amoena type, introduced in 2007 by Schreiner. It is descended from 'Fit for a King' x 'Parvin's Pinot,' and is both elegant and very vigorous in the garden, even in adversity.

Like all Tall Beardeds, 'Royal Snowcap' appears in late spring or early summer, depending on how far north you are and how sunny your weather is. It loves full sunshine everywhere but the deep South, and once established, it's quite drought-tolerant. Deer and rabbits and other nibbling creatures leave it alone, and it's quite trouble-free, asking only to be divided into new plants every few years to keep the bloom strength up.

The Tall Beardeds make wonderful companions to Daylilies in the border, usually beating them into bloom by just a few weeks, and often overlapping delightfully. Place 'Royal Snowcap' in a place of honor and enjoy its beauty for many years to come! Zones 3-8.

Beautiful flowers

I was very happy when I saw this bloom. At first, I was a little concerned that there was no fragrance, but it appears to have a slight, "grape kool-aid" scent about it. Excellent shape & growth too!
