'Firewitch' is an amazingly heat-tolerant Dianthus. Most Pinks simply can't take the heat and humidity of the South and the Midwest, but 'Firewitch' puts on a dazzling performance in late spring and continues until fall! Use the 8-inch mounds of blue green, grassy foliage as a ground cover. Carnations are charming subjects for rock gardens, walls, the front of the border, and edging where they give an informal tumbling effect. These late spring to early summer bloomers offer spicy fragrance, cheerful colors, and attractive, often blue green, foliage. Many are superb for cutting. The dwarf varieties have an especially attractive, compact habit. All are perfectly hardy. Plant 6 to 10 inches apart in a sunny, well-drained location, preferably in a gritty soil of substantial lime content. Zones 3-9. The item form was incorrectly printed in the catalog as potted. This item will be shipped as bareroot. Sorry for any inconvenience.
