And The Winner Is...
Honey Perfume 2004 Floribunda of the Year® winner
Fall is an exciting season in the rose world. Its the time many new roses are previewed for the following spring. And, It's especially exciting here at Jackson & Perkins because we get to show off the results of our exceptional breeding program.
2004 is a banner year for J&P, yielding one of our largest-ever new collections of gorgeous, unique, great-growing new roses. Many of our new varieties are award-winners; some have even won multiple awards. Among these champions one rose, Honey Perfume, stands above the rest for the many accolades it has received.
Honey Perfume, a beautiful apricot-yellow floribunda, has a delightful, spicy scent and is so outstanding in every category that we selected it as our Floribunda of the Year® winner for 2004. Not only did it pass our rigorous, six-year trial and review process, but it also performed outstandingly in independent assessments both nationally and worldwide. This incredible rose earned a Gold Medal in Barcelona and a Silver Medal in Genova, and then was awarded the All-America Rose Selections (AARS) award, the highest honors a rose can receive!
Honey Perfume impressed the AARS judges with its wonderful habit, vigor and disease resistance. Its 4 blooms present a very novel and attractive color. And, because it blooms in large open clusters, Honey Perfumes flowering effect is an eye-catcher even from clear across the garden.
The All-America Rose Selections award is especially important to American gardeners. It is the culmination of a two-year trial conducted in test gardens nationwide. And, it represents the rigorous evaluation of each roses color, form, fragrance, floral impact, habit, vigor, foliage, disease resistance, repeat bloom, aging quality and novelty. When you purchase an AARS-winning rose, you are assured that this superior variety will perform exceptionally well in your garden, no matter where you live in the United States.
Its easy for me to recommend roses to local gardeners because I have grown them under the same climate conditions that they experience. I also know that growing conditions can vary a lot from region to region in the United States, so my own personal growing experience is not always valid for other parts of the country. I will be recommending Honey Perfume to anyone who asks, because All-America Rose Selections judges have come to the same conclusion I have: Honey Perfume is an outstanding rose.
