Crystal Fountain™ Clematis Virgin's Bower Plant
Another masterpiece from Raymond Evison!
Cultivar name: Evipo038
Syn. 'Fairy Blue.' This exciting new Clematis combines unusual flower form with super long bloomtime to give you 5 months or more of glorious color! Very vigorous and easy to grow, Crystal Fountain™ will soon reign in your sunny garden!
These flowers are extraordinary -- as if a frilly pompon-like bloom had been set on top of a single-flowered Clematis! They're 4 to 5 inches wide, and they arise BY THE MANY DOZEN on plants 6 feet tall and about 3 feet wide. There's nothing of the hot-house about Crystal Fountain™ -- this is a rough-and-ready climber for your garden.
The flowers begin in late spring or early summer and continue steadily all summer long, lasting into autumn. Technically Crystal Fountain™ is a rebloomer, but the flowers keep coming so steadily that you really may not notice "waves" of bloom, as you do with older varieties that need to rest between flowering periods. Terrific floriferousness, both in number of flowers and length of bloom!
Crystal Fountain™ is the blue-flowered twin of pink Empress, which makes a fine companion for it in the garden. It also pairs with Roses and open-habit shrubs. Just give this plant something to climb, and watch it take off!
Like most Clematis, Crystal Fountain™ prefers to have its roots cool and its tops warm, so mulch it well upon planting, and keep the soil evenly moist. Pruning Group 2. Zones 4-9.
