Carefully unpack. Pour rocks gently into glass bowl. Evenly space bulbs, pointy-end up on top of rocks. Push them down gently to nest. Add water just to the bottom of the bulbs.
A cool, bright location. Turn container occasionally to keep stems from leaning toward the light. Paperwhites grow more slowly and last longer when kept no warmer than 65°F. Keep away from direct heat sources. Support tall stems with a twig or stake tied with twine or raffia.
Keep water level just to the bottom of the bulbs at all times.
Forcing bulbs indoors, as we have done, depletes their reserves and it may take several years for them to bloom again. Paperwhites belong to a group of daffodils that are not winter hardy.
