Peacock Buddleia Butterfly Bush
Extra-bushy and full of blooms!
Just one-third the size of most Buddleias, Peacock is the dwarf gardeners have been asking for for years. Upright, spreading, and covered with pink blooms over a long season, it offers all the merits of larger Butterfly Bushes without the huge size.
Just 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, this shrub is bushier than most Buddleias, with flowering stems nearly down to the ground. It simply clothes itself in pink over a long late summer and fall season, attracting butterflies and releasing a sweet fragrance to share with the rest of the garden. The flowering stems make lovely cutflowers, too.
Peacock is ideal for containers as well as the garden. If you have a patio, balcony, deck, or porch in need of color and scent, this is the low-maintenance, long-season solution.
Plant Peacock in full sun or light shade and any well-drained garden soil. At the end of winter, prune it down to about 6 inches from the soil line (or just above the soil in containers). It will regrow even bushier than before! Zones 5-9.
