Graham Blandy Buxus Boxwood Shrub
Never more than 2 feet wide!
Graham Blandy is never more than 2 feet wide, and after a decade or more of growth is just about 6 feet high. (Eventually it tops out at 10 to 12 feet.) It thrives in full sun to partial shade, and doesn't mind soil that's dry or just poor. Give it a good start its first season or two (to get its root system established), then let it go!
And unlike many evergreens, Graham Blandy doesn't need constant pruning and trimming to look neat. Now, it doesn't MIND pruning -- you can shape it to your heart's desire -- but it won't begin looking raggedy as some others will. The habit is so narrowly upright that it always looks pulled together, even when you haven't done a thing to deserve it!
The new growth on this broadleaf evergreen may be bronzy, but will quickly acquire a deep green hue with overtones of gray. It's a nice choice for a big container, because it doesn't "brown out" in winter, so it works well on the patio or flanking the deck. Graham Blandy is low maintenance, adaptable, and so easy! You're going to love it! Zones 6-8.
